A youth music project for local young people.Harlow Rock School is a registered charity that supports and empowers young people through the transformative power of music. Working with students aged 11-18, we provide a free, safe and supportive environment where young people can build confidence, develop social and life skills, and improve their wellbeing through a combination of music-making and personal development.

The Rock School experience. Our students rehearse in bands, learn their instruments, and perform live, building confidence through real audiences and hands‑on event experience. They help set up equipment, promote shows, and work as a team. Alongside performing, students develop skills in songwriting, recording and acting as working musicians. Community events showcase their progress, strengthen local ties and encourage young people to grow into capable, confident members of their community.
|
Led by trusted volunteers to support young people. We're run by a committed team of trained volunteers who create a safe, welcoming space where young people feel supported both musically and emotionally. All volunteers and trustees are DBS‑checked and have Youth Services training. We offer a sensitive, supportive environment that recognises the importance of mental health, helping students grow not just as performers, but as resilient young people.

Our history in Harlow Town.Rock School was first founded as a youth music project in 1999. The project was first hosted out of Harlow's historic independent live music venue The Square, before the project achieved charity status in 2007. Rock School then moved into Hare Street Youth Centre in 2012, until it took the keys to its very own private venue at Katherines Common Room in 2019.
